Since I have been a long-time fan of Mie Karapitan and Toko You whenever I’m in Bandung, it rarely occurs my mind to also drop by at Sam’s Strawberry Corner which is also famed for its noodles and strawberry juice.
For some time now, this once humble noodle shop has grown bigger thanks by adopting the franchise method and the shack where it was once started is now already closed. They apparently have moved to a bigger venue, still on Jalan Dago, but a little bit on the uphill side just nearby Sheraton Hotel.
Since my wife is really fond of both bakmi and strawberry juice, surely Sam’s becomes an easy choice to do both. I actually enjoy the new place now as it becomes so neat and they do have helpful staffs to maximize the service.
The noodles, however, might not be the best I’ve ever had. While it has an interesting aspect such as the use of chicken floss instead of the shredded or diced one, the noodle was very dry and hard to swallow. It came in quite generously luckily and I always like a hearty-portioned bakmi nevertheless.
The strawberry juice was also decent. My wife opted for the one using milk and lychee and me for the plain one. Again it wasn’t the best juice but like I said, still decent. It’s a cool combination though to put some lychees inside the juice and we all love this fruit right?
Well, it’s great to hear that Sam’s now aiming for bigger market as they also franchise the business and some outlets are already opened in Jakarta. I still heart them as a decent choice to try once in a while, but my heart is still set on Mie Karapitan or Toko You whenever I’m in town. Perhaps upon another visit, I’d hold you nearer in my heart Sam’s.
